Hot Shorts joined us in an interview to tell us all about their new album “I Understand And I Wish To Continue“. Other topics along the way included their favourite bands and venues in Manchester, future plans and more.
Hot Shorts are an Indie Pop band from Manchester. Their songs are a smorgasbord of nerdy musical references to 90s and 00s rock music. ‘I Understand And I Wish To Continue’ is the band’s second album proper. It follows their self-titled debut and a smattering of releases including an EP, covers album and live album. The new record takes in homages to Weezer, Rage Against The Machine, Queens of The Stone Age and even Bryan Adams.
Despite these nods their overall sound is somewhere closer to the twee indie of Hefner with the harmonic power of early Weezer. Also in line with these two bands, their lyrics are naturally bookish, with a creative array of subject matter. This is in no small part down to the band having two published authors in its ranks. Topics range from being an unwilling astronaut, to the bore who brings their guitar to a party.
